I recently added Maxim Vakhovskiy as a FaceBook friend. He is an amazing portrait photographer with a keen eye for capturing the authentic beauty of black women. In an age where black women are marketed as tan/ chocolate white women (a la Beyonce, Liya Kebede, Halle Berry, etc.) it's refreshing to see images that depict the unique features of the sub-Saharan diaspora. I was told once that I had a very black face- I immediately knew what the speaker referring to: my broad nose, distinctive profile, and gap toothed smile all bear witness to generations before. I am truly proud of this. I come from stock that not only managed to survive, but thrive in the most inhospitable of conditions.
In either case, do take a look at his website for more examples of his stunning work.

Wonderful work! Thanks for posting!
