I am attempting to interpret an evolving technique invented by my friend, artist Mike Cloud. Paper Joinery, as it's called, is a collage 2.0. No longer relegated to the immovable flat surface, work in this genre challenges the artist to collect and combine, anchoring the individual parts only to each other. The utilization of innovative "adhesive" techniques is paramount- as string, paint, grommets- take the place of glue. I am working to create pieces that maintain a level of flexibility by ensuring fluid construction.
