This week I attended two application seminars: one for NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) and another for UAI (Urban Artists Initiative). Both offer fellowships that award funds without the hassle of developing a specific project. Each is designed to support and encourage artists in the work that they do, whether they decide to spend the money on materials or rent- the choice is entirely up to the individual.
